This presentation, drawing on a recent paper, examines the relationship between local government and various regional and national stakeholders in English public procurement. The presentation discusses how regional public procurement fosters unique connections and activities among agencies, creating strategic and practical aggregations often overlooked in procurement research. A theoretical framework highlights the crucial role of procurement organisations, collaborations, and mechanisms in local space. The presentation concludes by considering broader implications of the interactions between local government centralisation and fragmentation.
