The Library

The Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development (IOER) maintains a library dedicated to the spatial sciences. The inventory currently encompasses approx. 20,000 volumes. Subscriptions are held to around 120 journals and periodicals. The IOER library collaborates with the Saxon State and University Library Dresden (SLUB) and is a member of the Leibniz Association’s Working Group of Libraries and Information Institutions as well as the Dresden Working Group of Academic Libraries.

The library is not only open to IOER researchers but can also be used by external visitors, for example students at the Universität Dresden or the University of Applied Sciences (HTW) Dresden

Organised as an open access library, books can be borrowed by users after registration. Journals, however, can only be borrowed by institute members; all other users are welcome to read these on the premises. A photocopier is available if required.

There is a possibility to use laptops in the library for the research. These also offer online access to spatially-relevant technical databanks.

The Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development is jointly funded by the federal government and the federal states.
